Ancient Tea Ceremony Sparks Mindful Living

July 18, 2025
At Pavilion B, Japanese tea master Hiroshi Nakamura introduced Expo guests to the 1,000-year-old ritual of the Chanoyu tea ceremony. Through precise movements—bowing, scooping matcha, and offering the bowl—participants practiced intentional breathing and the Zen principle of “ichigo ichie” (one moment, one meeting). Many said the 30-minute experience helped them “slow down time,” versus their usual rush-and-scroll routine. Expo organizer Tara Lim noted, “Cultural practices like this aren’t just history lessons; they’re living pathways to present-moment awareness.”
